About U3A Taradale

U3A is a worldwide movement that encourages older people to keep their minds active by sharing knowledge and engaging in social activities. The concept began in France in 1972 and has grown into a global network of lifelong learners.

In New Zealand, there are now over 80 U3A groups. We provide a learning, activity and interest platform for retirees and semi-retirees in a friendly, relaxed environment, without the pressure of exams or formal qualifications.

There are hundreds of members in the Taradale group alone. Were we all to get together at once, we would look something like this ...

Our Philosophy

We believe that learning is its own reward. Our members are both the teachers and the students, contributing their professional skills and personal hobbies to create a rich variety of interest groups.

Whether you are fully retired or just working fewer hours, U3A Taradale offers a way to stay connected, curious, and involved with your local community.
