U3A is a worldwide movement that encourages older people to keep their minds active by sharing knowledge and engaging in social activities. The concept began in France in 1972 and has grown into a global network of lifelong learners.
In New Zealand, there are now over 80 U3A groups. We provide learning, activity and interest groups for retirees and semi-retirees. All are enjoyed in friendly, relaxed environments, without the necessity of any, or futher exams or formal qualifications.

We believe that learning is its own reward. Our members are both the teachers and the students, contributing their professional skills and personal hobbies to create a rich variety of interest groups.
